Our Beliefs

What we believe at Ladner Baptist Church about Jesus, the Bible, and the Church

Our Beliefs

the bible

The Bible is God’s Word to reveal Himself to humankind. It is inspired by Him in its entirety. It is completely trustworthy and is the supreme authority for all of life and faith for followers of Jesus.

THE TRINITY

There is one true God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The SEPARATION

Because of the choice of the first man and woman to go their own way instead of following God, the relationship between God and all humankind has been broken. Ever since the fall of humankind, sin has been causing havoc in relationships.

THE RECONCILIATION

Because of God’s incredible love for all people, He came to earth, fully God, and fully man, in order to rescue us. He was born to a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles to affirm His identity, died to pay the penalty for our sin, rose from the dead, ascended to heaven where he continues to intercede for those who trust Him, and will one day return to take His people to Heaven to spend eternity with Him in paradise.

THE Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit lives in all those who have placed their faith in Jesus’ finished work on the cross. The Holy Spirit transforms them progressively to become more like Jesus, enabling them to reflect the character of Jesus. Through these transformed lives the Holy Spirit points to Jesus as the only way to bridge the gap between broken, sinful people and a holy God.

The Church

The Church is Christ’s body on earth, consisting of all those who have placed their faith in Jesus. Jesus gave the Church a mandate to glorify God by cooperating with the Holy Spirit to share the hope of Jesus with the world.

The end

In the end God will judge both the living and the dead. Salvation is only received by God’s grace, through faith. No one can merit God’s favour by their own works. Those who have received the free gift of salvation through Jesus will be resurrected to eternal life with Him, and those who reject His gift will be eternally lost.
